Wind Mitigation Inspections

How Will Your Home Fair?

A wind mitigation inspection is written on a standard form that is to completed by a Florida licensed Inspector that may help homeowners qualify for an insurance premium discount. These discounts are given to homeowners who have wind-resistance features on their property. These features reduce the risk of damage that may occur during a hurricane or heavy windstorm. This translates into less risk for the insurance company which means savings passed on to the homeowner.

A Wind Mitigation Report will identify:

  • The roof covering installation date (date permit was issued)
  • How the roof decking is attached to the trusses/rafters
  • How the trusses/rafters are connected to the exterior walls of the home
  • The roof shape (hip, gable, flat)
  • The presence of shutters or impact rated windows and doors
